Statue of Laurel of 'Laurel and Hardy'

The statue of Laurel is here because this is where his father managed a theatre. Laurel (His real was Stanley Arthur Jefferson) was born in 1890 and died in 1957. The films he and Hardy made from 1920 till 1950 was all about slapstick comedy starting off with silent films before sound and in black and white. Laurel played the clumsy one and Hardy acted the bully. Laurel lived at the nearby 'Princes Street'.

See behind the statue for some of the old films!

My first impression was to see the original 'Benjamin' right there in the entrance hallway. I stood looking at it and trying to remember the copy just in the castle nearby. After many moments I am sure I could see the differences. There was something very special about it. The tour of all the other paintings was special, but as I left I had to take in 'Benjamin' one last time.
